The tunnel vision

🐟 Dive Overview

We enter the tunnel through a narrow crack in the rocky headland. Inside, the passage splits into two: one wider and gently lit by natural light, and a second, narrower corridor that adds a bit more adventure before both join again at the impressive cavern exit at around 12 meters. Shrimps, prawns, octopus, and various crustaceans hide in the darker sections of the rock, often visible with a torch.

Outside the tunnel, the seabed drops beautifully down to 25–26 meters, opening into a sandy platform where we frequently spot torpedo rays and whip rays resting or gliding across the sand. Barracudas and amberjacks often cruise along the drop-off, especially on days with mild current.

The surrounding rocky area is full of typical Mediterranean marine life: wrasse, damselfish, bream, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and the occasional moray eel peeking from the crevices.

This dive can be done from shore, descending a set of steep steps and walking a considerable distance to the entry point. However, the most comfortable and scenic option is to dive it directly from our beautiful boat, Blauet, enjoying a relaxed and effortless approach to one of the most impressive sites in the west of Menorca.

For the return, we can either re-enter the cavern through the second passage or follow the stunning coastal wall back to the entry point, enjoying the dramatic topography and the rich variety of marine life this site consistently offers.
